Leaving the Lammar Valley on our way back to Mammoth Springs Hotel, we saw a Yellowstone fox who had just had cubs. She was caring for them and they were in their den while she sortied around the area to keep predators at bay.
A flock of female big horn sheep turned up to enjoy playing cat and mouse with the fox. The sheep kept getting nearer and nearer to the vixen. She engaged with them but did not fight. They sniffed each other and looked intense. The Yellowstone vixen eventually returned to her den to join her cubs. The male fox was out hunting for their next family meal.
